Looking to start or continue your career in the bike industry? Come work at one of the best shops in Salem, OR! The Bike Peddler is looking to hire seasonal sales and service associates.

Part-time and full-time positions are available. This position is limited to the summer season but there may be the opportunity of year-round employment for the right person.

What you'll be doing:

• Greeting customers in a friendly manner, making sure everyone who rolls through the front doors feels safe and welcomed
• Assisting customers with bike, component, and gear sales – explaining the products, assisting with test rides, and ringing customers up at the cash register
• Assisting customers with basic mechanical services and scheduling service appointments for bigger projects
• Answering phone calls and texts from customers (most of the job will be on your feet, but some sitting and working from a computer is required)
• Representing the Bike Peddler within the local community – being stoked about bikes and the outdoors, and modeling best practices of safety and respect

Must-have skills or traits:

• You can work quickly and stay calm and professional while doing it. The shop can get hectic!
• You can communicate clearly and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds
• Be able to lift up to 50 lbs (we move bikes around all day)
• Be comfortable using bike repair tools and equipment
• Be available to work weekends
• Have a love for riding and its community. We can teach technical knowledge but we can't teach you how to love bikes!

Desired, but not required skills or traits:

• Previous bike service experience (shop experience, repair experience, bike building experience) is a plus, but not required
• General knowledge of brands like Specialized, Seven, Salsa, and/or Intense
• Experience with Lightspeed POS is a plus
• Ability to converse in Spanish and/or American Sign Language

This is an hourly position. Wages will depend on the candidate’s experience. The starting range for this position is $14.75 - $17.00 per hour, plus tips.

Work will be on-site at 174 Commercial St NE, Salem, OR 97301. Employee parking is available, but limited.
